Plans are currently being finalised for a replacement of the Dunster and Gaines-Cooper buildings and construction (or rather demolition) is expected to start over Easter 2011.
Addington preferred to live in the more modern structure, and in time the name Bulmershe Court transferred over to that building. The earlier Bulmershe Court became known as Old Bulmershe Court. For a time it fell into disrepair, but was restored in the 1920s and renamed Bulmershe Manor. Bulmershe Manor is a Grade II* listed building.
The cutting was hand-dug with no machinery with the spoil removed in wheelbarrows and horse-drawn carts. It took two years to complete and several people were killed in the process. The line was opened on 30 March 1840.
The main road through Warfield is the B3034, from Brookside to Bill Hill. Warfield is served by bus routes 53 and 53A, run by Thames Travel; routes 153, 162 and 192, run by First Berkshire & The Thames Valley; and Courtney Coaches routes 153 (Sundays only) and 199 (Wednesdays and Fridays only).
In Easthampstead there is evidence of local Bronze Age existence in the form of a large round barrow on the top of Bill Hill. The hill itself is also surrounded by an ancient ditch, which has largely been filled in. Bill Hill now forms part of a park next to Downshire Way and it is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
